STETSON, CALIFORNIA.
March 17th, 2023
The low glimpse of a sunset that lightly shines upon the roofs of buildings is the first sight you have upon leaving the bus and descending into the miniscule bus station. Maybe you've arrived there in the afternoon, which would brighten up the scenery and would make the streets a tiny bit more crowded, even if still very light on people. Or perhaps you live there. In that case, upon leaving your home and observe the neighboring houses of the residential district, you'd see the same people as always, with the same expressions as always, leading their day-to-day lives as they always do, in the same old boring way. There's not much hope of a big change.
Nothing interesting happens in Stetson.
But, assuming you don't live here, you don't know any of this yet! These types of thoughts don't even pass through your mind. You're probably a bit more worried about your instrument, left with the luggage in the lower compartments of the bus. You really, really hope it wasn't damaged in the trip. No time to check, though.
You're almost late for the meeting.
You search left and right for a taxi, but to no avail. There doesn't even seem to be an in-town bus service to go from place to place. You look at your phone in horror: No Ubers or Lyfts in sight. Without much choice, you grab your belongings and walk to your destination.
At least it doesn't seem like it's going to take much time. The town doesn't look that big, although it's clearly not that small either. Seems... perfectly average. Tapping your pockets, you look for that card you received a while back, just to check on the address.
It's not. Really well-designed. Probably didn't cost that much to make. Probably was made by someone's grandkid. Probably.
What's interesting, though, is what is on its backside:
Searching for "Legato Conservatory" on Google brings up a Very Old Website. Didn't seem to be visually updated since the mid-2000s. There were still weekly posts on it though! News about classes, concerts and local shows, updates on their policies, warnings about vandalism on school grounds, upon many other things. On posts about their admission period, which happened at the beginning of each year. On each of those posts, there was a phrase that was always present.
"If you have it, please bring one of our business cards with you! It'll show us that you're a special student."
You thought so much about all of this that you didn't even notice you've reached your destination! The jaunty little musical smiley face from the card adorns the entrance, right atop the big doorway of the big modern building, watching over everything that goes on. You look around at the people that surround you, scattered around the area. You're not the only one who was called after all. You join them in waiting, and you all wait. You're not sure what exactly you're waiting for, but it feels like the right thing to do. So you simply wait.
You...
You...
Well, let's not keep you like this any longer.
Who are you?

Who are you?
- Who Are You???:
- Name?
It may have been chosen by yourself or by others. It may have a meaning or not. You may like it or you may not. It will, however, always be yours. Take good care of it
Gender?
There are answers to this question that might make other people mad. Those people do not matter and are not part of this story. All that matters is you. All that matters is you.
Age?
The time you have spent in this world. Some people may not like to think about it.
Instrument?
Your way of expressing yourself. It gives you power.
Backstory?
You are everything you have been through until this very day. Someday you'll be even more.
Paranormal Experience?
That is why they want you. You may not know it yet, but you have experienced something.
Theme Song?
Yourself in song form. May or may not contain your instrument.
How Are You Feeling?
We really want to know.
